Basically, this is a method or program that anticipates and thereby avoids disease. Modern testing of blood, urine, saliva, hair, fingernails, are used to evaluate the data and to forecast degenerative tendencies. A diabetic is really a diabetic ten years before he or she is diagnosed. Why not use these tests, then, to foresee this future happening and set a course for the patient to prevent its occurrence some ten years from now?
Suggestions for a Study Committee on the Sale of Junk Food
It is a common saying in the medical field which has the support of scientific evidence that has held up to the test of time. That saying is "we are what we eat!" I would like to point out a phrase which, I think, is apropos and that is, "junky foods; junky bodies!"
From Food to Mood: What Psychodietetics Is All About
"Psychodietetics" is the concept that many of our psychological problems originally stem from nutritional deficiencies. It further espouses that by proper diet and nutrition many emotional disturbances can be prevented, treated, and cured. Though the practice is designed to help prevent or even cure biological imbalances that result in emotional ills, psychodietetics cannot "fix" behaviors that resulted because of chronic biological distortions; in such cases psychodietetics must be used in tandem with psychiatric care to address both the biological and behavioral problems. However, in many cases, dietary change alone has shown to correct such conditions as schizophrenia, alcoholism, drug, dependency, psychoses, depression, and other serious illnesses. Though psychodietetics has been presented to many medical communities, it has not been received with much enthusiasm. In general, medical schools do not have nutrition curricula and, as a result, are disinterested in dietary application as medicine. And so, this idea must be presented to the public for dissemination and support.
Included in the full article is a brief list of nutritional deficiencies and their corresponding behavioral disorders. Also included is a questionnaire to determine if you may have a nutritional imbalance resulting in emotional instability.
The Predictive Medicine Clinic Idea
Members of the PPNF dream of creating an institute that is predictive in nature. Historically, the public has been focused on killing bacteria rather than determining why the human system has been weakened and succumbs to bacterial invasion. And though modern technology has enabled the medical community to perform multiphasic testing, i.e., testing which results in biological data from samples of the body and its excretions, the application and use of these results is still treatment of the disease rather than prevention. An institute which will address the preventive nature of health care is a much needed organization. This organization, as envisioned by PPNF, could be a for-profit organization or a nonprofit organization funded by philanthropic individuals or groups. This institute would provide not only preventive health care, but would also be a learning center not only for research but provide didactic teaching. It would also be a think tank for like-minded individuals to pursue and further engender the philosophy of preventive medicine. Its foundation would be wholistically oriented embracing all disciplines, medical and otherwise, that focus on health.
A Natural Birth Control Method
The Ovulation Method is a natural birth control method that is more accurate than the Rhythm Method. The Ovulation Method has lower pregnancy rates than the pill, mini-pill, and IUD. It requires that a woman become very familiar with her body and its cycles and is based on the thickness of the vaginal mucus. The Ovulation Method is useful for birth control or for planning for pregnancy.
Food Hydrators Can Be Made at Home
We bought the paperback, "Dry It, You’ll Like It!", by Gen Macmaniman, as you recommended It is loaded with marvelous drying recipes, but the plans for the dryer do not include a fan, and the heating element is beneath the trays, You pointed out that both the heating element and the fan should be at the back, blowing across the trays horizontally.
What’s Behind The “Swine” Flu Scare?
The mass inoculation with the swine flu vaccine proposed by President Ford was questionable at best. Though it would seem wise to prevent possible illness and at worst an epidemic, the swine flu did not present such a situation. The impetus for the suggested action was a result of 12 cases of swine flu at Fort Dix with one death of the twelve cases. The total estimated cost to vaccinate all Americans would have been $160,000,000; this would seem a disproportionate sum for an unproven threat.
What We Know for Sure About an Optimal Diet for Human Beings
An article from 1959 with considerable relevance for today. "My own definition of an optimal diet is that which would provide man with the nutrients essential to regenerate his body cells; to enable him to mature regularly as determined by normal osseous, physical and mental characteristics; to resist disease; to reproduce his kind in homogeneity, and to enable him to produce a livelihood for himself and his family". "The metabolism of every individual determines his optimal dietary". "
