What’s Behind The “Swine” Flu Scare?
The mass inoculation with the swine flu vaccine proposed by President Ford was questionable at best. Though it would seem wise to prevent possible illness and at worst an epidemic, the swine flu did not present such a situation. The impetus for the suggested action was a result of 12 cases of swine flu at Fort Dix with one death of the twelve cases. The total estimated cost to vaccinate all Americans would have been $160,000,000; this would seem a disproportionate sum for an unproven threat.
