Ruined Soil, Rotten Teeth: The Agroecological Dimension of Weston A. Price’s Work

Most of the readers of Health and Healing Wisdom Journal are probably quite familiar with Weston Price's pioneering research work and the unorthodox conclusions he drew from it, summed up in his now-classic magnum opus, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. His journeys around the world to study the impact of "the foods of modern commerce" on the dental and physical health of "isolated primitive" groups is an absorbing topic in its own right. But in this brief piece, I will focus instead on the agroecological dimension of Price's attack on the industrial food system.
