Rice Giblet Dressing
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups water
- 2 turkey or chicken livers, chopped
- 2 turkey or chicken gizzards, chopped
- 1 turkey or chicken heart, chopped
- ½ cup onion, chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 ½ cups brown rice
- ½ tsp sea salt
Directions
Bring water to a boil. Add chopped poultry organs and reduce to low heat. Cover and simmer. Chop onions, celery and garlic. Add chopped veggies to simmering broth and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add rice. Stir in sea salt. Reduce to low heat, cover and simmer 30 min. (If using this recipe for stuffing a turkey or chicken, use 1/2 the amount of water and cook the rice for only 15 min. Stuff poultry cavity and allow it to complete its cooking time along with poultry in the oven.
