The Yeast Infections and the Gut
In their pure form, yeast are nutritious and manufacture some of the B vitamins and other nutrients. Yeast are found virtually everywhere: on plants, in the soil, inside and outside living creatures, and even in the air. They are found, for example, on the skins of apples, where they protect the fruit from other, mold-causing fungi. People, like apples, are host to numerous friendly inhabitants, and one of our most common companions is yeast called Candida albicans.
