Raw Pie Shell
Ingredients
- ⅓ C. freshly ground nuts – almonds, cashews, pecans, macadamias, etc.
- ⅓ C. each of 2 kinds of freshly ground seeds – sesame, sunflower, pumpkin, chia, etc. (Makes 2/3 C. seeds)
- ½ tsp. nutmeg
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
- ⅓ C. butter (omit if you are using gelatin in the pie or cake)
Directions
Cream all the above ingredients and pat into place in the pie pan. You may reserve a little less than ½ for a top crumbly crust, if desired.
The cinnamon is especially good if stick cinnamon is freshly ground too. The nutmeg cannot be ground in the mini-mall, but there is a nutmeg grinder available so you can have a freshly ground nutmeg too.
If gelatin is used in the filling, it will hold the crust together, it doesn’t hold as well if you have used the butter too.
