In The News, Spring 2017: AAP Discourages Fruit Juice for Children Under Age One
A new policy statement by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) states that fruit juice “offers no nutritional benefits for infants younger than one year,” and should not be included in their diet. Previously, the Academy advised against giving fruit juice to children less than six months old; the new policy increases that time frame to one year due to rising obesity rates and concerns about dental health.
