First, Do No Harm: A Television Documentary
"First, Do No Harm" aired Sunday evening February 16th. Based on the story of Charlie Abrahams, who developed epilepsy as a young boy, the two-hour documentary was produced by his father Jim Abrahams as part of a campaign to educate the public about the ketogenic diet, a high-fat dietary treatment for seizures. "First Do No Harm" has a happy ending. The child is enrolled at Johns Hopkins Medical Center and placed on a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet. Like many others who have undertaken the program, he experiences no more seizures and is able to leave the awful litany of drugs behind him. American children are suffering from increasing rates of epilepsy, learning disabilities and numerous chronic disorders because we have neglected to provide them with nutrient-rich foods
