Autonomic Types: Why People Thrive on Different Diets

These excerpts from the new book Nutrition and the Autonomic Nervous System, by the late Nicholas J. Gonzalez, MD, shed light on the systems of autonomic typing developed by William Donald Kelley, DDS, and Francis M. Pottenger, Sr., MD. Kelley, an orthodontist, developed a nutritional method for treating cancer andother illnesses using individualized protocols based on tenautonomic types. Pottenger, a physician who had earlier discovered the basis for classifying patients based on variations in the autonomic nervous system, was the father of Francis M. Pottenger, Jr., MD, one of the nutritional pioneers for whom the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation is named. The passages below also explore the relationship of their systems to the work of Weston A. Price, DDS, the other eponym of our organization.
