Additives in Olive Oil Prompt Regulation

The State of Connecticut has enacted regulations to guard the purity of olive oil, prompted by an importer’s claim that a competitor’s brand of olive oil might be suspect because it was selling well below market prices. Subsequent testing found a high percentage of soybean oil in the product, although the label stated, “100 percent extra virgin olive oil.”
