Reflections on This Year’s Wise Traditions Conference
We recently attended the yearly Wise Traditions conference hosted by the Weston A. Price Foundation. Founded in 1999 by Sally Fallon Morell, the Weston A. Price Foundation, with its local community chapters and immensely successful efforts to advocate for raw milk access, has significantly promoted the work and good name of Dr. Weston A. Price. Their annual conference is loaded with incredible speakers and the highest quality, most nutritious food you can find!
With well over 40 sessions to attend, it was difficult to choose from the many great speakers and subjects! Fortunately, recordings are available for those who missed them. Here are a few we felt were especially important when it comes to empowering our lives and taking a natural, freedom-enhancing approach to food and health!
HEALTH FREEDOM
Leslie Manookian shared the history of legal precedents that have led to devastating constraints on our health freedoms and how some legal experts are successfully fighting against this. She received a standing ovation for her work with the Health Freedom Defense Fund to counteract vaccine mandates in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
FINANCIAL TRANSACTION FREEDOM
Catherine Austin-Fitts, founder of the Solari Report, reminded us of the critical importance of being able to spend our money how we choose. She offers several valuable resources, including a guide on Financial Transaction Freedom and a series of short videos explaining Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC’s) and the danger they pose.
EVALUATING SCIENCE
Kansas state Senator Mike Thompson, co-owner of IQ Learning Center, shed light on the fact that much supposedly “settled” science, such as that around climate change, is subject to serious bias and predetermined outcomes based on who is funding it. This data is often weaponized to exert influence and control the unwary, and it is up to us to educate ourselves and critically evaluate our sources.
INDIGENOUS WISDOM
After healing from twelve years of disabling autoimmune disease using a traditional, GAPS-based diet, Mary Ruddick went on to follow in Dr. Price’s footsteps, visiting remote Indigenous cultures all over the globe. She shares how they can inspire us toward heath and wellbeing and advocates for the protection and preservation of their ways of life, including through her non-profit, Cows4Kids!
FEEDING FAMILIES
The “Home Panel” with Sally Fallon Morell, Maureen Diaz, Hilary Boynton, and Christine Muldoon, moderated by Hilda Labrada Gore, discussed tips and strategies that these moms (ranging from 3 to 9 kids each!) used to feed their large families with nutritious food, while getting their kids involved and expanding their palates.
HOMEOPATHY
Paola Brown is president of Americans for Homeopathy Choice. In her presentation, she teaches the basics of homeopathy (including numerous common remedies) and shares lots of stories of how she and fellow “momeopaths” have been able to solve their families’ issues at home with non-invasive treatments.
BIOLOGICAL DENTISTRY
Dr. Blanche Grube of the Huggins-Grube Dental Center discusses the dangers of mercury, root canals, and implants in great detail, giving advice on how to talk to your dentist and considering — as Dr. Weston A. Price learned from tragic personal experience — the potential health impacts of trying to preserve teeth that can’t truly be saved.
NATURAL BEEKEEPING
Nathalie B of Bee Mindful clears up many myths about beekeeping and opens the door to supporting our crucial pollinators while expanding our backyard food initiatives. She explains the principles of natural, treatment-free beekeeping and shows how to construct a simple, inexpensive, top-bar hive system that even kids can help build and maintain!
AND THE MAN WHO STARTED IT ALL…
Reflecting on so many memorable speakers, let us not forget the man who started it all, Dr. Weston A. Price! His work reminds us every day to make choices that truly nourish our bodies and our communities. His belief and dedication to continual learning, rigorous science, and pursuit of the truth inspires us to unlock our innate human potential through a humble respect for Mother Nature and an integration of traditional wisdom. WIth his example, we serve not only our own interests, but, as he put it in 1914:
“We have not begun to grow until we get large enough so that no man can hurt us, and we have never gotten strong until we are strong enough to acknowledge our own weakness. And, still more, we have no right to claim that we love truth until we love truth, even though it denies and contradicts what we have said, more than we love to have someone endorse what we have said when it is wrong. What does it all mean? It simply means that if we, as a profession, are going to grow into the great possibilities of life, we must have an entirely new vision or relation for the world. For a man like that there is a new job. It is fixing up the world.”
— Weston A. Price, DDS, The New Professionalism
Thank you for standing with us as, like Dr. Price, we champion the true essence of health and freedom in our quest for “fixing up the world.”
