Teen with Vision Problem: Myopia (Nearsightedness)
Question
My 15 year old son has strong myopia – that is, he is nearsighted. What can be done to prevent his eyesight from failing further?
Answer
I presume he was born with poor eyesight. If that’s the case, the cause would be both genetic and a result of the diets of his parents and grandparents. If his eyesight had been perfect for most of his life, and then degraded in recent years, that is an entirely different situation. There could be any combination of possible causes:
He could have been exposed to a number of poisons or reactive foods.
Use of cell phones and video wireless devices could be a contributing factor.
Multiple nutrient deficiencies are a possibility as well. To test for these, I recommend the Cardio ION Profile from Genova Diagnostics.
