Questions from the PPNF Community
We were asked some great questions by a health-and-nutrition-conscious individual over Twitter recently. We wanted to share the questions and answers with our PPNF community because the issues are relevant to most students of nutrition.
1) By returning to traditional foods, can a person reverse the effects of physical degeneration caused by consuming modern processed foods?
Yes, but the amount a person can reverse degeneration depends on a variety of factors including the magnitude of the degeneration; how long this degeneration has been affecting the individual; was the affected person breast-fed and if so for how long; were they vaccinated; what foods, toxins and stresses has that person been exposed during their lifetime and what of these factors were their parents and grandparents exposed to? In summary, the lifestyle (nutrition, attitude/emotions/stress, and environmental influences) of each person, and that of their parents and grandparents, affect the health of an individual today.
Remember, the key word here is “degeneration.” The way the generations prior to you ALSO affects your health today. Dr. Price found with the tribes that he studied that they could quickly regenerate when returning to traditional diets but they were the first generation eating foods of modern commerce. An individual today is most likely well past that first generation of those whom strayed from their traditional, ancestral diet. Dr. Pottenger found that physical deterioration increases with each generation when the proper foods are not consumed and predicted that by the time we got to the third generation of people eating foods of modern commerce, it would take four generations of eating a perfect diet to return to the health that the tribes enjoyed. To further understand the basis of these theories and to understand the research behind the Price-Pottenger way of life we strongly suggest you read Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Dr. Weston A. Price and Pottenger’s Cats by Dr. Francis M. Pottenger.
2) Can you give me a list of natural sources of Vitamin K2?
Natto, sauerkraut, and animal protein, animal fat from healthy animals eating what they are supposed to eat, not what man thinks they should eat (such as GMO corn, grains, etc.)
3) Is there a detailed documentary video on Weston A. Price?
Yes, there are two: Dr. Price’s Search for Health and The Story of the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation.
