Tooth Decay and Its Cause
Modern teachers in dental colleges like to pretend that, “There is no scientific proof that tooth decay can result from improper diet.” (A statement by Dean Noyes of the Dental College of the University of Oregon at the Northwest Dental Conference, Hood River, Ore., April 15, 1952.) At the same conference a Department of Agriculture official stated, “There is no scientific proof that a poor soil can cause poor health.” These are samples of the bending of scientific facts to suit the despots who rule a totalitarian state.
The truth about dental caries was well expressed by Bicknell & Prescott in The Vitamins in Medicine, (1942, Grune & Stratton, p. 688) under the caption of “Refined Foods.” They point out the fact that in the Pacific Islands a number of occasions are matters of history where tooth decay was practically non-existent until refined foods were introduced, when in only five years time the incidence of caries in children became common, and in adults between forty and fifty years of age had increased fifty percent. These authors state that when human teeth are incubated with white flour or white sugar and saliva the enamel is destroyed, while with raw sugar or whole grain flour they are “hardly affected, especially with the unrefined sugar.”
They quote the findings of Osburne & Noriskin (J. Dental Res., 1937, 16:431), who found that unrefined cereals and sugars have a protective action on tooth enamel. Children eating raw sugar cane, having teeth that were covered with sticky sugar most of the time, were relatively immune to decay. These authors also state that raw milk has a similar protective action on the teeth. They quote Sprawson who found a sudden startling fall in dental caries in a children’s institution after a schedule of one pint per day of raw milk was instituted. Other instances of caries differences due to the raw vs. pasteurized milk were cited.
These are final tests on human subjects. These results show HOW caries CAN be prevented properly without mass poisoning of water supplies through fluorine. (If you think this term of “poisoning” is too strong, recall that one fifteenth part per million of sodium fluoride in water will cut the activity of lipase, a vital cell enzyme 50%). This book, The Vitamins in Medicine by Bicknell & Prescott, here quoted has disappeared from the book marts. You cannot buy a single copy. The modern racketeers know that they can only carry on their criminal adulterations of food by suppression of the truth. That seems the only explanation of why this important reference work that every physician needs, has been made to disappear without a trace.
The extent to which employees of medical and dental organizations cooperate in this criminal racket is shown by the fact that there is an almost universal acceptance of pasteurized milk, acceptance of the fluoridation program, acceptance of criminally adulterated foods like white bread, refined and synthetic sugars, synthetic fats, and imitations of butter as glaringly crooked as the green shavings that the fabled Scotchman tried to feed his horse. Even butter today is artificially FLAVORED (perfumed) and colored with coal tar dyes to cheat the buyer. The Scotchman had not thought to flavor his green shavings with new-mown-hay perfume. The modern sneak thieves of our life and health have been a little more subtle. No wonder the Drug Trade News of July 16, 1945 editorially commented “We Need More Guts.” That we need professional men “with the guts to say in the open, in court and on the witness stand the truth that they say behind closed doors, but which they fear to say publicly.” The Editor points out the fact that men who know the facts fear to express their opinions before Congressional committees, because they know that they will be subjected to retaliation. He says that many experts refuse to defend the facts because “it will get them in bad” with their “scientific” society or with organized medicine.
By this system of maintaining their “POISON CULT” the drug and adulterated food industries are directly responsible for YOUR dental disease, and YOUR ill health, YOUR heart disease and arthritis–by so confusing scientific thought that the truth cannot be recognized. As the above Editor winds up: “Well, what do YOU think of it? Can we expect Congress or anyone else to fight our battles when we don’t dare to do so ourselves?”
When the Shute Brothers in Canada showed the merits of vitamin E in heart disease and other common ailments, they were viciously attacked by these wolves of organized medicine. This vitamin, only present in FRESH cereal products, never found in chemically aged and oxidized, criminally adulterated flour, MUST not be permitted recognition. Even after fractions of this complex are shown to affect the heart so favorably in some acute diseased states of that organ that the change can be shown in a few minutes on cardiographic recordings, the value to the human is denied. How crooked can man become, how stupid can their victims get? For a complete review of the value of this vitamin, get a copy of the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1949, Volume 52, Art. 3, pages 62-428. Price $4.50 (New York, American Museum of Natural History).
Our purblind authorities prate, “There is no scientific proof that vitamin E has any value to the human economy.” While at the very same time they accept pasteurized milk without a scintilla of evidence that it will support life as well as raw milk, with volumes of evidence to the direct contrary. In one test at an orphan asylum over a period of years, where the food was identical for two groups except for milk pasteurization for one, there were 14 times as many new cases of tuberculosis among those using pasteurized milk as among those on raw milk. (See Lee Foundation Reprint 28C, free on request.)
If you want to know what happens to a medical man who slips up and publishes such a fact as a new test that shows heart degeneration from the use of refined foods in time to halt the consequences of sudden death, read the item in the New York Times Tuesday July 12, 1949, where “HEART TEST REPORT STIRS MEDICAL ROW” and “Physician Loses Hospital Post after Appearance of Unauthorized Article.” A new test for coronary disease and suggesting a dietary approach for diagnosis and possible prevention caused Dr. Ernest Klein to be summarily dismissed from his position with University Hospital. His findings were the result of his study for over three years of the blood of 200 to 250 persons per day at the Hospital Blood Bank.
He had been told by his superior, “You have no right to do any research work here, any more than the maid who cleans the place.” Certainly, all research must be done under such auspices as will insure no publication of results that will hurt any business racket that may have its control set up to keep the truth from their victims.
Personally, I tire of calling attention to these morbid facts. I prefer to go further into the interesting exploration of the vitamin complexes that can save life. But what is the use of finding a vitamin that relieves most prostate gland victims, a vitamin that restores missing pulsations of the heart, vitamins that perform naturally and physiologically what nitroglycerine does as a poison, vitamins that bring down the temperature in infections as quick as any antibiotic or wonder drug without any possible repercussions, vitamins that restore oxygen to the tissues of heart victims that are gasping for breath, vitamins that wipe out allergic reactions, when most professional followers of the healing arts are so gullible as to blindly fall for the wiles of the Pied Piper of the Wonder Drug advertising industry–so gullible that they cannot see the vast difference between physiological methods of therapeutics, and the monkey-wrench into the machinery methods of the poison cult and the razor-happy surgeon?
Yes, research is the most pleasant, even if it has to be done with one hand–the other being busy fending off the attacks of slimy creatures ensconced in the editorial staffs of national dental magazines, ensconced in the Food & Drug Administration (where they spout the dictum “no disease can result from any deficiency”) ensconced in the Federal Trade Commission (where they spout the dictum “a natural product is NOT superior to a synthetic imitation”), the OPA where vicious attempts are made to use the law to wipe out competition of products that support life against criminally adulterated products that cannot, ensconced in the Post Office where fraud orders are actually issued against book publishers who sell literature that fails to agree with the “consensus of MEDICAL opinion” (God help our freedom of speech today). Just to list a few of the diversions that will automatically follow any attempt to bust even a little segment of that vast empire of deception that feeds on the unsuspecting American Public. As Alois Senefelder said 125 years ago after establishing the science of lithography: “one spends 98% of his time trying to convince people that a new discovery is true, and 2% of his time on the research necessary to making the discoveries.”
We have even gone to the lengths of developing special microphones to pick up heart sounds that are below the normal limits of audibility and special amplifiers and special recording devices to prove that these changes so readily created by some of the vitamins are really actual physiological responses instead of a temporary reaction to clever salesmanship. This instrument is the Endocardiograph (U.S.Patents #2,305,626-2,392,487-2,479,072) available at a nominal rental fee to any physician who would like to see for himself what vast improvements may occur in the cardiovascular reactions of the average patient to the use of Scientifically prepared Vitamin Concentrates from natural sources. If you want to know what honest cereals can do as a health builder get a copy of Reader’s Digest for September 1952, and read about “Sweden’s Supergrandpa” (Page 23) the old gentleman of 66 years whose mainstay of diet was rye bread and water, who beat 50 young athletes in a 1000 mile bicycle race. Such stamina in our country is unthinkable and certainly unheard of. If you look back a few pages in Vitamin News you will note that scientific studies some years ago established RYE as the cereal that was by far the best as a muscle builder, wheat in animal tests in comparison being a FAT builder. (Page 77, Jan. 1935)
But do not forget that RYE only reflects the mineral quality of the soil it was grown on. Those silt-filled rocky valleys in the Scandinavian peninsula are full of real minerals. The Finns you will recall take home ten times their share of long-distance running trophies from the Olympic Games. Now maybe you see a little LIGHT?? “There is no scientific proof that a poor soil can cause poor health.” So says the propaganda of the Death-food Flour Industry. “Eat White Bread and Reduce” says full page ads in the A.M.A. Journal. As we see it, the only thing you could possibly reduce thereby, would be your health.
A Few Comments On the Relation of Abnormal Heart Sounds to Malnutrition
Extra systoles, heart block, fibrillation: These phenomena are due to the loss of conductivity of the heart tissues for the impulses that otherwise maintain synchronism of the contractile rhythm of the heart muscle.
Heart block first starts as a skipping, then finally becomes a “pulsus alternans” situation, the heart muscle has become so insensitive that it responds only to a “second call” from the control apparatus that normally regulates pulse rate.
The cause is a deficiency of the cereal germ vitamins, B4 in particular. This fraction of the B complex is essential to normal function of motor nerves. It has also been called the “anti-paralysis vitamin.” It is inseparable from natural thiamin; never found in synthetic thiamin.
It is, further, the physiological remedy for enlarged heart, for it is this factor in the B complex that maintains vascular and muscle tone.
A continued deficiency of B4, of course, results in more or less degrees of nerve and muscle degeneration, but all the above effects of its deficiency usually respond quickly in some degree to its administration.
An enlarged heart, with its distorted and leaking valves, as shown by murmurs, usually becomes almost normal in its performance except for a prolonged first sound–the indication of tired muscle, within a few minutes after ingestion of the natural B complex carrying the wheat germ concentrate. Fibrillation responds as quickly if the degenerative changes have not progressed too far.
Heart block requires more time. Its presence indicates a relatively extended degree of degeneration.
Muscular fatigue and hypertrophy usually is treated with digitalis. A new extract of heart muscle, known as Cardiotrophin, seems to be better for the purpose. Its action is quicker than digitalis when tested on the patient with a weakened and flabby heart, as shown by the weak and extended first sound.
The second sound of the pulse is commonly supposed to be made by the closing of the valves at the end of the heart contraction, in fact later than this, at the end of the outflow of blood, the blood reversal tending to close these valves. If the second sound at the aortic microphone position is accentuated, the general conclusion may be made that the systemic blood pressure will be found above normal. (It is important to distinguish an accentuated second sound from a diminished first sound.)
If the pulmonary system happens to be engorged and hypertensive, the accentuated second sound of the pulmonary position will be definite.
This is common with patients having hypoadrenia, and they will complain of distress in the chest on exertion due to this congestion. Vitamins to support the adrenals are indicated. Remember cortisone and probably the other adrenal hormones require vitamins C and B complexes for their formation. These patients usually do very well if they get proper natural vitamin supplements. They are incipient asthmatics, and need adrenalin. Their systemic blood pressure is usually low.
Sometimes the second sound is absent or barely perceptible in the mitral valve position of the microphone. One or two vitamin F tablets usually restore the second sound here within a few minutes.
Since we know that this vitamin increases the supply of ionized calcium required in muscular activity, it is probable that the absence of the second sound here is because of consequent muscular incompetence–the contraction losing its vigor at the end of the effort, permitting a more gradual slowing of the blood output than normal, thereby eliminating the second sound at this valve.
It is important to note the rest period duration–the time between the end of the second sound and the next first sound. If it is shortened to where it is no longer than the contraction period that follows the first sound, a so-called “tic-tac” rhythm is produced.
This is a serious state of damaged heart muscle–usually an indication of coronary insufficiency. It responds slowly to the use of the vitamin G complex and the E2 fraction. Both these vitamin products are vasodilators–the E2 as rapid as nitroglycerine, and useful for the same purpose, but far more constructively. (Certainly, it is unsound to use a poison as a substitute for a food.)
In the angina pectoris case, E2 is often effective after nitroglycerine has failed.
Vitamins E2 and the G complex are vasodilators, essential for the coronary and angina patient. The B complex is bad for these patients until they have had their deficiency of the vasodilators taken care of–otherwise their acute symptoms may be aggravated.
There is a little confusion regarding the vaso-constrictor and vaso-dilator effect of the vitamins, hormones and drugs because the dilation of the vessels or capillaries that are in the walls of the arterioles will promote constriction of their muscular fibers by supplying fresh blood. Therefore a vaso-dilating factor may be a vasoconstrictor for certain areas, and vice versa.
Adrenalin is a vasoconstrictor for most of the body, but is a vaso-dilator for the coronary and lung vessels. The vagus nerve acts to decrease the blood supply to some tissues, increase it for others. Therefore, it is essential to follow the empirical rules for the use of many of these principles.
Another note: wherever adrenalin is used, be sure to use Parke-Davis’ natural adrenalin. It has a much better action than the synthetic imitation, will not cause toxic side effects and after pains due to pyrogenic impurities in the synthetic.
Eye specialists have found the synthetic product entirely too irritating for use in eye preparation.
Paroxysmal Tachycardia: This is an apparent loss of pulse rate control normally exercised by the sympathetic nervous system. Potassium deficiency seems to be the most frequent cause – the use of organic potassium as available in Mineplex tablets is usually effective in bringing the control back into normal rates within 15 or 20 minutes. (In two to three tablet dosage.)
Otherwise, the load on the heart is mainly regulated by the oxygen demand of the tissues. This demand has been found. to increase as much as 250% by reason of vitamin E deficiency, which normally inhibits unnecessary tissue oxidation. The vitamin C complex is necessary to maintain the red cell oxygen-carrying capacity; a deficiency may cause a loss of half the capacity of the blood to carry oxygen. It is very obvious that these two vitamin complexes can be a matter of life or death, and tells us why test animals put on E-deficient feed die from heart failure before any other symptoms are observable, that might arise from the deficiency.
That is, no doubt, why we have so much heart disease in this country, while it is almost unknown in China, where refined foods are also unknown.
The patient who presents himself with a marked shortness of breath is usually relieved within fifteen minutes after taking three or four tablets of vitamin C complex.
The patient who is kept awake with a “pounding heart” after eating too much is usually relieved in the same period after taking two or three “Minaplex”1 tablets, the organic mineral complex taken from Alfalfa and Sea Lettuce. The Potassium content is the active principle. The same dosage usually relieves paroxysmal tachycardia in the same time.
Nervous tension also may affect the heart in this manner, the basic disorder may be mainly the potassium deficiency that incapacitates the sympathetic nervous controls.
The use of unrefined sugar and whole grains in place of white flour products and refined sugar is an important part of the advice needed by this type of patient, unless he prefers to pay the higher price of the minerals in tablet form for the rest of his life.
Hypertension can be aggravated, too, by potassium deficiency, but there is usually other contributing factors. The most common one is liver damage, and this will be shown by a high sedimentation rate. The remedy then is the fat-metabolizing complex that is needed for liver regeneration, available as a beet molasses extract sold as BETALCO2 tablets.
The active factors are betaine, choline and the alcohol-soluble minerals.
Where cholesterol accumulations are involved, the use of the buckwheat juice tablet RUTAPLEX3 will be found indispensable. It releases the cholesterol from the tissues. If the liver can take it out, the blood cholesterol will not rise, may even drop; but if the liver cannot do its job, the blood pressure will drop and the blood cholesterol will rise at the same time.
To promote the disposal of the cholesterol through the gall bladder and keep it in solution meanwhile, the beet leaf extract “Betaris”4 tablets will be found very helpful. They are indicated in all gall bladder troubles, such as gall stone formation–simply a state of bile in which cholesterol is precipitated out instead of remaining normally in solution. The use of beet greens in the diet will accomplish the same thing.
