Flu Strain Resistant to Drug Tamiflu

From Reuters UK [“Health Vectors”] The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have reported that 98 percent of H1N1 flu samples are resistant to Tamiflu®, a drug for both the prevention and treatment of flu. This is a large increase from a year ago, when only 19 percent were resistant. The H1N1 strain is currently the most common strain of flu in the U. S. The CDC’s Dr. Nila Dharan and colleagues wrote in the Journal of the American Medical Association that 264 of 268 cases (98.5 percent) showed resistance to the drug.
