We recently attended a fascinating conference on Holistic Health Care. The topics covered a broad range of subjects, each with the theme of treating the whole person and treating him as a part of his environment. One speaker ventured that man's greatest achievement in space is the new view of Earth as "a lovely green and blue globe, spinning in space." The point is that our environment is actually rather compact in terms of natural life-support systems. It requires a great deal of complex and expensive gear to enable us to travel in outer space. Besides, if we destroy our Earth-environment, who will be left to manufacture all that fancy paraphernalia?
