What Happens When We Clench or Grind Our Teeth?
People usually grind their teeth without knowing it. This can happen when the upper and lower teeth don't meet properly when the jaw closes. The grinding is an unconscious attempt to wear down interferences on the biting surfaces of the teeth. Treating the causes requires dental and nutritional correction. Nutritional correction first involves the elimination of sugar and refined carbohydrates from the diet. Eating these causes swings in the blood sugar levels, resulting in 'nervousness and irritability' and more grinding and clenching.
