Nutritionally Speaking: Sugar Found in Foods
Dear Dr. Meinig: Thank you for your most interesting articles on nutrition. My mother feels as if you could advise me, as I need to lose some weight and have a hard time dieting any more as I get such high feelings in my head when I go on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. I have tried a variety of foods, such as nuts, cheese, even sweets, but carbohydrates seem to be the only thing that will bring me down, back to normal. I usually try a thousand to fifteen hundred calorie diet. I have gone through the glucose tolerance test and it was normal. Would also appreciate hearing from you on why sugar is so bad except for calories and tooth decay. I don't eat sweets, but my children have sweets. Thank you. --D.K.
