Everyone Who Eats Food Is a Farmer!
In most parts of the world, people must secure each day the food they are going to eat. About three-quarters of the world's population are considered subsistence farmers. In the developed world, people who eat hire others to do the farming for them. We tend to think of the farmers of the developing world as impoverished people who need our help to improve their standard of living. Are we compensating, in a sustainable way, all those who bring food to all those who eat? Low world market prices mean that families cannot earn enough money to purchase the things they used to provide for themselves.
