Do you love writing about science and nutrition? Are you proficient in reading scientific studies (including the fine print)? Would you like to help inform the Price-Pottenger community about the latest findings in diet and lifestyle research? If so, you may be the person we need to join the Price-Pottenger team as a freelance science writer.
You will write 6 to 8 In the New articles, summarizing current research studies and/or newsworthy topics, for each issue of the Price-Pottenger’s quarterly journal. Length of articles: approximately 200-500 words each, depending on topic assigned. In addition, you will be asked to find and recommend research studies and evaluate the quality of studies submitted to you by the journal editors.
You will identify and write up news items for the News for Now section of the Price-Pottenger website. This aspect of the position involves creating social media posts (captions and graphics) and posting news articles to our blog. Apps used will include Canva, Buffer, and WordPress. The potential exists for additional writing assignments.
You will work remotely as an independent contractor. Compensation is negotiable.
- Ability to communicate scientific concepts and terminology to a general audience
- Competence in reading and understanding research studies, including statistical analyses
- Background in nutrition, and preferably familiar with Price-Pottenger’s principles
- Skill in communicating clearly, effectively, and succinctly in writing
- Proficiency in use of social media
For almost 70 years, the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation has inspired the public to attain optimal health via healthy dietary, nutritional, and lifestyle practices. Our name honors Weston A. Price, DDS, and Francis M. Pottenger, Jr., MD, who made groundbreaking observations connecting diet to health and chronic disease. Based on the findings of early nutrition pioneers as well as contemporary health and nutrition experts, Price-Pottenger offers members and the public resources that empower them to change their lives.
