National Food is Medicine Day
Dear Friend,
National Food is Medicine Day reminds us of what Drs. Price and Pottenger discovered in their studies and research: that careful nutrition has the potential to heal, and that imprudent diet choices have the potential to harm.
Launched in 2021 by the Food Equality Initiative, National Food is Medicine Day raises the awareness of barriers that prevent many from access to healthy, nutrient-dense food and the healing powers that it possesses. We support the Food Equality Initiative’s effort to bring public, private, and nonprofit organizations together to collaborate on programs to reverse the leading causes of death in the US.
In an earlier blog, “Why convening to advance ancestral nutrition is important,” I shared our efforts to similarly inspire cooperative collaboration at this year’s Ancestral Health Symposium. With the same objective in mind, we’ve since attended the Symposium for Metabolic Health, a gathering of remarkable physicians focused on reversing metabolic contributors to disease, and the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology conference, attracting a global network of dentists, health professionals and scientists focused on protecting public health and the environment.
Why the new focus on symposia and conferences? Because, after a year-long listening tour and the subsequent development of a new vision, mission, values, and strategies to better serve you and our entire community, we are pursuing a new purpose:
To provide resources, inspire collective action, and encourage individual choices that improve human and planet health today and for future generations.
Robust health is our birthright, but it is not a given. Although some people have access to healthy food, and others have access to Price-Pottenger, not everyone is so fortunate.
Today, we are providing more news, interviews, recipes, and health guidance to the public than ever before. We’re sharing important information, like National Food is Medicine Day, to inspire you to act on your own behalf and on behalf of others.
We are grateful to have you with us on the cusp of a new beginning at Price-Pottenger, but we can’t do the work alone. Please share our content with your family, friends, and loved ones. And join others who support our efforts to pioneer health and nutrition by making a generous contribution today.
Wishing you robust health,
Steven J. Schindler,
Executive Director
PS: Our friends at KetoCon just announced the dates for their 2023 conference and have provided a special Early Bird discount for the Price-Pottenger community. We hope to see you there!
