Are there benefits to phytic acid?
Question
Regarding the potential benefits of phytic acid (binds iron and ensures copper absorption), I was just wondering ‘What Would Price-Pottenger Say’ – Sometimes it seems there’s as much fervor around soaking/sprouting as there is around fermented cod liver oil.
Answer
According to Dr. Price’s studies (which can be found in Nutrition and Physical Degeneration), we now know that there were populations around the world that had no grains in their diet and they were abundantly healthy. They only had quality animal protein and animal fat from healthy animals. Whether phytic acid in grains do some good or no good, they are not required. We are all different – with different needs and requirements.
